9:42 pm - Wanted: 9 ft tall, snarling eco-warriors

In other words, I'm starting a Werewolf: The Apocalypse game and am looking for players.
The game will likely be set in Montreal, but that may change.
Games will take place on alternating Tuesday evenings at my place (St Clair/Dufferin area)
I'd like to start this game on Feb 21, so if you're interested, let me know and send me a character concept soon.

8:42 pm - Calling Montreal Changelings

Everyone seems to be in agreement, so we will be resuming our trek through the Enchanted world of Montreal this Sunday at my place.  Start time 8:00pm so feel free to arrive a bit earlier if you like.

I look forward to seeing you then!

11:56 pm - Does no one post here anymore?

Ye gods, its seems an age since anyone posted here. I guess Dangerous Visions got a little less dangerous? T'is a pity. Though we all seem to be on a bit of a role-playing hiatus right now, I for one have decided to continue to prance my pale undead ass around in computer form at least.

So there.

10:59 am - Chastity

Well the move to Toronto went smoothly, though I wasn't expecting to leave the city quite so fast. A silly part of me hoped that Aiden would stick round, and not get into too much trouble, but another part, the more practical part, kind of knew that it was in his nature to stir up the shit, and this time it was in a blender with the top removed. Dissapointing, but... what the hell. I haven't a clue where he his and life does indeed strive foreward.

I found work pretty quickly after getting into the city, and straight away met a lovely co-worker whom I expect I shall be remaining friends with. I've never known a non-changeling who can do magic. And who is as good a dancer as I am. That in itself is an accomplishment. It was a night of good tips, and one where I met a couple of local faries. Both of which I gave a personal lapdance, and one who... welll... he has provided me with a place to stay, entertainment of an intimate nature, and hell, he's cute too. He also wears a circlet. It was a little surreal but not something I am unused to, to give the nobles a bit of a show. But indeed there is something about a pretty elf and a couple of sluagh in a strip club that has got to make one smile.

Tonight is a night of discovery and, hopefully, debauchery. I had just done some shopping for a whole change of wardrobe, and am getting ready for Bob to pick me up. We shall be going to Dangerous Visions, my first night out on the town in this new city. I am looking forward to meeting up with my old friends. Imagine, Bob and Patronella both in the same city. I can only hope that our new romps are not as... watched as our past ones. None the less, I look forward to seeing the sluagh, she's a little slimy, with contagious warts on her tongue that she enjoys advertizing, but we've bonded in a few ways that make me enjoy her. And as for Bob, well. A satyr loves to drink, and this Boggin can give you a run for the money!

anyways. He should be here in a few moments. I have my satyr sense telling me that tonight will be indeed, intensely interesting and filled with events that may or may not result in drunkeness, pain or sex.

Either or, it will be one hell of a night.

10:36 am - So, Nikos is a vampire

Found out one of my best friends is now a member of the undead. My how things change. Trouble has been brewin' and that spider fearing bitch is back. I'm losin' a bit more of the few human things I had to begin with, and Anthony thinks he can solve all my problems with more sex. I need someone to talk to who knows what I'm going through without getting all preachy about inhumanity like I KNOW Anthony will. *sigh* I'm just glad he doesn't know about this journal. One of the good things about being a modern vampy is that I don't fear technology as much as the others. Well, close. Okay, so I STILL fear technology but not AS MUCH. Yeah.

Shaved this evening when I awoke. I still get creeped out by the silence coming from my chest. No heartbeat. No breathing. *Grins sarcasticly* and people are curious as to WHY I can't identify with the kine? Fuck! They were my tools or my toys even when I was mortal!!! Now, now they are beneath my fucking contempt. Those idiots in the goth scene are now even more so my puppets, all the while they laugh and cavort without knowing that they have a monster in their midst. When the idiot goth twinks rub against me and try to be dangerous and flirtatious they have no idea that they are hitting on a CORPSE!! *laughs manicly* Necrophiliacs every one of them. I used to be just like them. I used to think I understood the dark. Ye gods was I ever wrong. I'd like to bury every last one of THEM alive and make THEM have to crawl and dig their ways out of their own coffins. Maybe then they will know what it is they seek to immitate. I see understanding in the eyes of the few I show my true self to. I see that understanding painted forever on their faces as they slowly die in ecstasy. Identify with them? Please. Nothing has changed since the embrace. I'm still a predator, they are still my prey. *laughs* The more things change, the more they stay the same.

8:47 pm - Meeting my new pack

The second installment of Catherine Delacourt's diary. In this one I get a bit more into what the SF tribebook referred to as "playing the curse" -- i.e. trying to subtly work her particular manifestation of the tribal weakness into her way of thinking.

12:38 pm - From Catherine Delacourt's diary

It's been some while since I've written here -- moving to Canada and getting settled into a new place has been very stressful and time-consuming. But it turns out this place held a lot more surprises than just adapting to university, and to life in a city. And I'm really not sure I've done at all well in dealing with them.

2:16 am - A New Beginning

No one's posted here for quite some while, but tonight at the Werewolf game, people seemed to be interested, so I've sent invites to all the Werewolf players, and hopefully we can revivify this community with our characters' diary entries. I shall oblige with the first diary entry of Catherine Delacourt sometime soon.

8:28 pm - Fw: Lewis?

- Original Message - From: Martha O'Lupa To: Cyberstud@Sympatico.com Sent: Saturday October 22nd, 2002 Subject: Lewis? Are you alive? Father and I are worried about you. Mom ----------------------------------- Dear mother, I should first apologize for not responding to your last seventy or so emails. I have been incredibly busy these few weeks and with my rather scarce free time haven't had the opportunity to write back to you. Your concerns about my health and well being should be here eased, as I'm writing to inform you that I am doing just fine. I hope you will relay this news to father who must undoubtedly share you worries. It had marked the beginning of a rather interesting journey since we last spoke. I am finally answering the recurring question in many of your letters saying yes - I have ceded my analyst position at the forestry company. But rest assured that I have found new opportunities and better ventures elswhere; duties which I hope will not undermine your investments in my education (nor embarass you if the topic of me is brought up at one of your lavish cocktail parties). I am presently enlisted as the technical administrator for a small Management Consulting firm called "Owl's talons Inc.". They're a smart bunch. I was actually nominated as most valued employee last week. They continuousely shower me with warmth and affection, and respect...for once I really feel like I belong. Thus I hope this letter can bring you encouragement of my present being and environment. To think that I almost forgot to give you the greatest news. News of a newly aquired significant other. Believe it or not, I've met a woman. Her name is Vladina. She is East European and has the most alluring Scandanavian accent. I'll bring her over sometime so the family can all meet her. Mostly, I'd like Vladina to meet my dearest older brother Chud. Is he still competing in those silly Ultimate Fighting competitions? I still think he should put his brawn to better use like vampire hunting or something. I know that the topic of vampires is still very difficult to digest since the death of Tabitha... You must trust that I still think of my sister everyday. Awaiting your reprise. With love and affection, Lewis ----------------------------------

9:50 pm - Vlad's Journal...That FUCKING vampire pt. 1. The Vozhd

Dear journal, wonderful night!! No mere Vozhd, no puny Tzimisce elder, no rampaging "pack brother" can stand before the might of me!! Zandor created a Vozhd, a VOZHD!! All in a vain attempt to lay me low, and it meant nothing, for I have learned the tricks of the enemy and am using them against him to show him the TRUE might of Vla- I mean Gaia!!! Taking Zandors face unto my own, I commanded his mindless behemoth servant to be gone from me, to rest. Others fled, some went mad, but my resolve was unbreakable!! I forced it to give way to my strength!! Upon giving the weaker minded members of my pack time to return to their senses, we set upon the sleeping beast with fang and claw!! Its death was mercifully quick, and I can only hope the pathetic humans used in its creation have found some measure of peace. My poor poor Clarence however..... he was most distraught that his paintings were missing. It would appear that they were taken by the Fiend. These.....voices soon started.... they were whispering all my past regrets, all my past shames...... they wouldn't stop...... and I think my dearest Clarence heard them too..............

But the voices stopped later that night my journal...... they stopped when the final ashes of my former mentor hit the floor......... but that my journal is another story.....

still the prettiest

1:50 pm - Belated update

This journal hasn't been updated quite as frequently as one might like - well, all right, it hasn't been updated at all in quite some time! I never even finished the catch-up history to get readers up to the point where the gaming group actually was. Most recent update was Eli's in-character post in the form of a letter to his tribal elders back home, so I think I'll continue in that vein and make this one a letter from Kore to... an absent friend.

1:34 pm - Pack name??

Hey guys, just occurred to me that if we plan on announcing ourselves at this moot tonight, we're gonna need a name for our pack. Any ideas? All I've come up with so far is 'Forest Owls'. *Listens to the snickers of the gaming geeks in Chip's place* I've always been a pack of one. Never had to name a group before. Any ideas at all?

You are meaning that this is not television? I was simply trying to find channel 6. Apparently there are many things in this Canada that I must be learning, as they are saying knowledge is power. I wish to very wise indeed.

7:58 pm - Sweet Idea Misslynx.

Just one question Dear....
As a galliard, do I get bonus points for posting chronicles of our adventures?
Either way this should prove to be a fun forum. and if we're to be posting in character, shouldn't those of us whose characters have no computer skills get a freebie point in that skill to be able to even use LJ?

I'm looking forward to letting Renton ramble on LJ very soon. Tales that will be sung for generations wherever fine Fianna war whiskey is being served.

2:54 am - The Story So Far (first installment)

A lot more has happened than this, but I have to start somewhere in getting this journal up to date... This beginning part is fairly abbreviated and condenses a lot of gaming sessions into one entry.

It all started when Eli travelled to the Temagami area of Northern Ontario, trying to track down the last surviving member of a missing pack who'd disappeared in the Umbra. He met Henry while trying to find the missing person, and then they encountered Kore, who told them about a strange patch of forest she'd discovered where the trees were growing in an exceptionally orderly way, more so even than a normal even-aged tree plantation.

They checked it out and found strange spiritual anomalies - the umbral version of the trees appeared to be hollow and spun from weaver webs, and putting out strands to suck energy out of surrounding natural trees, and other life forms - even the characters! There were no other plants or animals within the affected area, and most disturbing of all the trees appeared to be beginning to interbreed with other trees around the edges of the area.

With Kore's assistance they broke into the local MNR office and discovered that a company called Forever Forests had cut and replanted the area - and then found out from other werewolves in the area that the company was owned by Garou! While they were planning how to investigate this further, they met up with Renton, who was on vacation and trying to check out Temagami's virtually non-existent nightlife, and he ended up joining them.

The foursome then went down to the company's headquarters in North Bay, where they met with the company president and told him what they had found. He seemed completely shocked, and said that while the strain of trees they had planted were a "new variety", they had only been modified to speed their growth so that the forest would re-grow faster. He said that the staff were all about to go away on a camping trip for the long weekend, but that he would look into it when he got back, particularly if they could provide him with any hard evidence that the trees were really having a destructive spiritual effect.

Not entirely content with this explanation, they waited until nightfall and broke into the building - or tried to. Unfortunately, it was a little better-defended than they'd thought, and they managed to attract the attention of some nasty Weaver spirits (hunter spiders). While trying to get away from them, they ran into the one employee who hadn't gone on the camping trip - Lewis.

After some conflict, Renton managed to persuade/coax/threaten Lewis into turning off the security, and they explained what they were doing there. Concerned, he hacked into the R&D director's account and found some secret records on the project, which indicated the tree stock had come from a Toronto company called Genova. They decided a field trip was in order, and Lewis decided to join them, given that between the security violation and his hacking activities he'd likely be out of a job come the return of the staff, unless he could prove it was all for a good reason... And he wanted to know whether his co-workers really were up to something nasty.

So off our fearless five went to the big scab to the south...

2:53 am - Cast (in order of appearance, not to be confused with Appearance)

  • Eli Owlson, a.k.a. Light-of-the-Lost, played by nikosw. Silent Strider theurge, metis (albino), and finder of missing people. Tends to be the brains of the operation.
  • Henry Coldlake, played by Cleasai (who is not on LJ - yet), Wendigo ahroun. Big, strong, bit of a temper, likes bacon sandwiches, and REALLY doesn't like alcohol.
  • Kore Shadowstalker, NPC (but played by me as a PC in other chronicles). Black Fury kinfolk, but apparently with powers above and beyond the average kinfolk. Quiet and stealthy and good at getting into places she isn't supposed to be. The players are starting to suspect she has secrets she's not telling.
  • Renton Wallace, played by justindecent. Fianna galliard, singer in a Celtic punk band, and generally disreputable character. Likes alcohol (and cigarettes) a whole lot, and has a sense of humour that sometimes gets him into trouble.
  • Lewis (can't remember his last name and don't have a copy of his character sheet), played by shrugmaggot. Glass Walker ragabash, computer hacker, forestry student and (ex-)intern at Forever Forests, a GW-owned sustainable forestry company that may or may not be involved in a nefarious genetic engineering scheme.
  • Healer's Heart, played by Jay (not on LJ). Silent Strider theurge and former missing person, found by Eli. Suffering from amnesia after the rest of his original pack was horribly killed in the Umbra. May have secrets he's not only not telling, but doesn't even know about himself.
  • Vladimir Walks-in-Darkness, played by darkmoon31. Shadow Lord philodox. The newest pack member, and some still wonder what Owl was thinking. Can you possibly get any more vampire-like and still be a werewolf? He's even got a Slavic accent and a black cape, for heaven's sake. Originally rescued by them from the genetic engineering lab they broke into. Sneaky bastard, not yet trusted.

2:41 am - Introducing...

...a community journal for my gaming group!

I have, believe it or not, had requests to post accounts of our gaming sessions online, mainly from kettunainen, who would dearly love to be in the game but can't be for reasons of geography (being a thousand miles away and all). So this way I figured we could all post our perspectives on the continuing story. I've added the four players who are LJ members to this community - hopefully this will give the two who aren't the incentive to join!

I've set it up so that it's a closed community that only members can post to, but anyone can read, so that way anyone who's interested in this strange little story we're spinning can keep up if they want to.
